Cape Town City Bowl

Cape Town accommodation within the city bowl has become one of the most popular places to stay and hang out in recent years! At the heart of Cape Town (Cape Town #1 travel destination out of 52 places – NY Times; Cape Town named Favourite City – The Telegraph Travel Awards; One of the Top 25 Cities in the World – Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards) lies the city bowl. It is a natural amphitheatre-shaped area outlined by the mountains of Devil’s Peak, Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and Signal Hill as well as the harbour. Out of this world views of the ocean and mountains and its natural leafiness make it a highly sought after residential area.

It is the central business district of Cape Town and contains the company gardens, the national gallery, The Castle of Good Hope as well as some of Cape Town’s most historically significant neighbourhoods, galleries and museums. The cosmopolitan Kloof Street and Bree Street areas and surrounds is teeming with fine dining restaurants, bars, art galleries and quirky coffee shops, and is all just a 5 minute walk away from Tamboerskloof, an upmarket and sought after area (Groeninx Villa & Bronlow Villa are located here).

The city bowl is small enough to explore on foot. In summer market stalls line Greenmarket square while just around the corner Long Street offers a bohemian mix of antique shops, African curios, book stores, bistros, restaurants, watering-holes and nightlife.

From the city bowl it’s only a 5-10 minute drive to the famous beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton and the world famous shopping and restaurant centre the V & A Waterfront, which offers everything from designer labels to African curios.

A 5 minute drive from the city bowl lands you in the trendy De Waterkant area, a coffee connoisseur’s paradise, and another 5 minutes will take you to Green Point, where the vibrant night life explains why it’s been dubbed the Soho of Cape Town.

The combination of African and European cultures and architecture in the city bowl attracts a cosmopolitan and worldly crowd who come to enjoy the heady mix of natural beauty, breathtaking beaches, world class dining, nightlife, history and culture.
